When does a new puzzle begin?
A new SIXY puzzle begins at midnight according to the local clock on your device. Puzzle numbers let people compare the same challenge even when players in different time zones reach the next calendar day at different moments.
Why was my six-letter word rejected?
The accepted-guess dictionary is broad, but no word list contains every technical term, regional spelling, inflection, or newly established word. SIXY also avoids most names, abbreviations, punctuation, and entries that require capitalization. If a familiar word is missing, send the word and puzzle number through the contact page for review.
Can an accepted guess become a future answer?
Not necessarily. Guesses are accepted generously so players can test reasonable ideas. Daily answers are selected more carefully for familiarity, clarity, variety, and a satisfying path to deduction. A specialized word may therefore be playable without appearing on the answer schedule.
What does a pink circle mean?
The answer needs more copies of that letter than the guess currently contains. +1 means one more copy remains; +2 means two more copies remain. Pink adds a quantity clue to the green or yellow position clue underneath it. Our repeat-letter guide walks through complete examples.
Why did the pink circle disappear?
Your newest guess used the full number of copies required by the answer. Those copies may still need to move, so continue reading their individual green and yellow results. The disappearance of pink confirms quantity, not final position.
How are daily answers chosen?
SIXY uses a fixed schedule of 3,000 unique six-letter answers. Familiarity, spelling clarity, letter pattern, repeated letters, and nearby grammatical forms are reviewed so the calendar does not become monotonous. Previously played answers remain fixed. Read the full word standards for details.
Where is my streak stored?
Your streak and game state are stored locally in that browser. No screen name or account is required. Switching browsers or devices, using private browsing, or clearing site data can make the streak unavailable because SIXY has no personal account with which to restore it.
How is today's performance calculated?
Completed games are counted anonymously by puzzle. Your number of guesses is compared with the other completed results available so far. The displayed percentile can change when more players finish later in the day, which is why refreshing a completed puzzle may show an updated result.
Does sharing reveal the answer?
No. “Share your result!” creates a spoiler-free color pattern showing your route through the puzzle, your puzzle number, and how many guesses you used. The answer and the actual guessed words are not included.
What information does SIXY collect?
SIXY does not require an account and does not send your typed guesses to product analytics. Limited anonymous game events and technical website measurements help identify problems and understand use. The privacy policy explains local storage, analytics, advertising, and player choices in detail.
Can I play with a physical keyboard?
Yes. Type the six letters, press Enter to submit, and use Backspace to remove the latest letter. The on-screen keyboard offers the same controls on touch devices. Motion is reduced automatically when the device's reduced-motion preference is enabled.
